Fruitarian Ideas

Fruitarian notes, ideas, thoughts, and observations related to Fruitarianism.

  • George Berkeley

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

  • Why Did I Not Respond?

Please read this article if you:

    1. try to figure out why I did not answer your question,
    2. would like to understand why I do not discuss fruitarianism privately,
    3. or want to talk with me in private anyway.

Before I start, please let me tell you that I am painfully aware that by refusing to discuss fruitarianism in private messages in the recent years and by making it difficult to contact me, I might have lost precious opportunities to get to know wonderful human beings. I hope you will understand me better after this explanation.

  • Fruitarian Notes on Humanist Manifesto

This article consists of notes I made in January 2014 after reading versions of the humanist Manifesto and other materials (including those by neo-humanists). I got interested in the modern meaning of humanism, following a speech with a debate, in which I participated in US and disagreed with some of the notions.

Later, during several discussions with other humanists, whom I met while participating in Humanist Fellowship, and my friends (one conversation was a few hours long and followed my notes below step by step), I was explained the cultural and historical context of this document, deeper linguistic meaning and importance of it in US, and therefore I want to state here clearly: I am a humanist, in a general sense. I took an online test on a main humanist site, and the result suggests that I am 100% humanist. If only this document were worded differently.

I republish publish the notes here in case someone wants to discuss it. I met quite a few vegan misanthropes, and I think some form of humanism is important for practicing veganism. Since 2014, I often feel an urge to remind vegans that people are animals too :)

  • To Selfishness by Mexie Mermaid

This is an exchange of comments about ideas expressed in a video by Mexie Mermaid "Have Nothing, Give Everything. [Buddhism and Selfishness]"

    Fruitarian Lena:

I wonder about your sources for the base idea of selfishness. It sounds like popularized nonsense (sorry, I like your channel, and expect more :)

So, all people who save money for their future or business, are selfish?! I don't know people who don't want to give anything of theirs for anything.

Do you know a bit from history, what happens when property rights are not respected? And what on Earth "patriarchy" has to do with it?

  • My Credentials

As the author of the site, I feel obliged to provide you with some information about my knowledge, credentials (if any), and the reasons I talk about fruitarianism publically - so you can assess the information I offer more critically.

  • Against Freelee, Durianrider, 30bananasaday, RawTill4

If some people tell you that you need to drink multiple liters of water and eat over 3000-5000 food calories every day regardless what your individual needs may be, if they advise you to sleep half of your lifetime without providing any supporting scientific data, if they tell you to never ever consume toxic temperature treated foods and then later switch the recommendation to any carbs, if they say you can eat tons of low fat stuff like potatoes and do not ever gain weight, if they try to alienate you from the rest of humanity by urging you to speak up and give ultimatums anytime anybody use any animal products, but they start with slamming people who are their direct competitors on the media market for trading only one ethically questionable product in small quantities, and in the same time they never discuss how some huge banana companies destroyed vast areas of wildlife, if they justify anything they say by their caring for animals and the planet, if they shame people with other body shapes and call it love, if they delete all challenging data on their sites, and tell people who are not successful on the regiment that they just lie, do something wrong or simply need years for a good lifestyle to start working, and then they tell you, that this is the only way to be healthy and considerate, - please do not necessarily believe it

  • Fruitarian Facebook Page Updates Removed

Dear fruitarian friends and supporters of this page, several month ago Facebook had removed the updates of this and, as far as I know, many other pages from the main feeds of subscribers, and after that only few people who had apparently re-added the updates to their news pages are able to see the posts, as well as the new subscribers, only if the fb shows them as a "top story" for the default settings for most people. Before almost each message here was seen by at least half of all followers, now it is around 2-3%. Even for me, the admin, it is difficult to see the updates.

I should have drawn your attention to this earlier, but it seemed to be making no sense, because most of you still won't get the message. It was quite a discouraging experience, waiting for the problem been solved. Today I realized that even your messages and links here stay unnoticed! Please accept my apology, there is not much I can do about it, but I'll give it a thought. Facebook offers now (less aggressively than after the change) to "boost" each post - basically, to push them onto subscribers of the page and their friends for ~$40+ for one day. This is kind of strange and not sustainable, because this page is not for business...

Let me wish you a great New year, many-many aromatic wonderfully ripe fruits, great success on finding your optimal diet and personal happiness! Very best, Lena

  • Open Letter

Hi, thank you for checking out Fruitarians.net! My name is Lena, I am also known as Fruitarian Lena. I am a long-term vegan fruitarian, the founder of the site (the former International Fruitarian Network) - my attempt to provide an independent inviting platform for all people to tell about their ethical lifestyle choices, and to participate in the civil public debate. Currently, I am considering my options in building an interesting resource on fruitarianism.

I believe the future of humanity depends on our ability to come to certain agreements

If you are interested in realistic approaches to fruitarianism and veganism, in ethical and environmental changes we can make, and in attracting people to an open conversation about these topics, beyond cooking, looks and fitness, please help me to to develop Fruitarians.net with new ideas and to join the conversation in public videos.

My plans for the future of this site are summarized in this public letter to past and future participants and supporters.

Charles Darwin

There is no fundamental difference between man and animals in their ability to feel pleasure and pain, happiness, and misery.

Protein Deficiency

Protein deficiency rarely occurs as an isolated condition. It usually accompanies a deficiency of dietary energy and other nutrients resulting from insufficient food intake.

Deficiency of this severity is very rare in the United States, except as a consequence of pathologic conditions.

The symptoms are most commonly seen in deprived children in poor countries:

  • stunting,
  • poor musculature,
  • edema,
  • thin and fragile hair,
  • skin lesions
  • hormonal imbalances.

Edema and loss of muscle mass and hair are the prominent signs in adults.
