The Fruitarian Tree - Mind Map

Fruitarianism - Mind Map

This is a graphical representation of fruitarianism in my interpretation, mind-mapping / brainstorming XMind-version :)

I was testing this software and decided to do something useful. Normally I use FreeMind and EDraw.

Notice the roots of the tree - diet and philosophy, and leaves and fruits - results. You also need to water your tree with a right lifestyle :)

The tree is not quite ready yet, please make suggestions on how to make it better! What elements to add, and which are not convincing?

Scroll down for the textual form of the tree and explanation. Lena

"Stem" - Core

  • Your Life (Body, Mind, World)
  • Fruitarianism (Diet and Philosophy)

Instruction: Water your tree with good lifestyle - enough sleep, exercise, fresh air, sunlight, and right attitude!

"Fruits" - Results

Body

Health and Beauty

  • affluence of energy - fruits provide us with energy ready or next to ready to use. See Sugars, Energy in Food.
  • deep refreshing sleep
  • prevention of most illnesses - See also Fruit-Against-Cancer.
  • substantial reduction of intoxication risk - animal products cause majority of all food poisonings.
  • great digestion - ripe fruit are very easy to digest, and do not cause the growth of pathogenic bacteria in our intestines.
  • improved endurance - many athletes certify that, and many other people who changed to fruitarian-like diets discover that they not only gain better abilities in exercising, but also feel urge to do it more.
  • potentially longer life - there are only indirect indications for that, but the cumulative effect of this diet, from preventing diseases to avoiding toxicity and over-eating, cold be just that. See also Epigenetics.
  • lean body and prevention of all obesity-caused problems - if your primal food is fresh fruit you just don't have the weight issue, even if you eat quite a lot. Most people though loose some weight after changing their diet to fresh fruit based one, but after a while the weight normalizes. See also Insulin, Body-Weight, Diabetes.
  • smooth skin - many people say they experienced a huge improvement in their skin condition, in some cases though one's skin can get more sensitive.
  • pleasant aroma - by excluding all animal products, harsh spices like garlic, synthetic food additives, and heavily isolated and modified foods you make your body so nice to be in and to be near that it is just amazing.
  • flexibility and rapid recovery time
  • bright eyes - I don't know why is it so, but it seems like one's eyes get truly clear and sparkling. Maybe it is only because the whole face looks better, or the mood of the person is mostly good :)
  • improved vision - by eating various fruit we consume plenty of pro-vitamin A, and some studies demonstrated a special role of dark-colored berries in preservation of excellent vision.
  • fast elimination - this is a very important function of our bodies: to put out everything we do not need (any more). The fresh light food travels fast through the body and it prevents imbalances in intestinal microflora and self-intoxication by toxins in digestive tract. See also Microflora.
  • absence of food addictions - modern foods are fool of addictive substances, naturally occurring in food (like opiates in milk products) to synthetic (like Exitotoxins) and half-artificial ones (like refined suggars and oils). They make us overeat on stuff our bodies don't need and to under-appreciate good foods we can profit from, so excluding them from your diet makes it easy and enjoyable to eat healthy, sometimes it requires some adjustment period, which can take from one month to a year, or maybe longer. See also Against Cravings.

Mind

Creativity and high spirit

  • great concentration
  • dramatically improved memory
  • clean consciousness
  • time saved on food reparation is available for creative activities
  • you became so beautiful inside and out that it keeps you happy
  • increased sensitivity gives greater emotional and physiological pleasures
  • freedom from kitchen utensil increases financial resources, mobility and adaptability
  • you can grow your own food and gain more independency
  • deepened empathy
  • constant flow of ideas

World

Benefits

  • reforestation
  • better climate
  • prevention of soil erosion - by roots of greater plants.
  • purified air
  • decentralized agrarian system - more freedom for people, more stability, more variety.
  • beauty of trees all around - flowering green
  • preserved ocean life - no need for highly destructive and inefficient industrial fishing.
  • clean water and preservation of sweet water resources - no farm-animal sewage in natural water reservoirs, much lower use of water per pound of food in production.
  • food abundance: 3-Dimensional fruit trees give the highest acreage yield *
  • reduction of Earth surface use, allowing bio-diversity and wild life flourishing
  • cotton paper lasts 400 years - botanical purpose of cotton fiber is to aid in seed dispersal.
  • profound reduction of suffering of conscious beings

* Acreage Yield

Few average examples to compare: apple and pear trees give 35,000 lbs per acre a year; strawberries: 45,500; pineapple: 30-60,000; oranges: 30-40,000, papaya: 28,000; sweet cherries: 14,000; grapes: 9,000; blueberries: 8,000; corn - 8,000 (can be used to produce plastic, diapers and packing material); rice: 7,000 pounds per acre; wheat: 4,000; peanuts and almonds: 3,000; soybeans: 2,000 (used also for ink and paint), sunflower - 1,500, chestnut and pecan trees give 1,000-2,000; cotton - 500 pounds per acre (for cloths and paper).

Some non-fruit cultures are very efficient too: potatoes 36-60,000 pounds per acre, lettuce: 24,000. We have discussed with friends how it could be possible to make potatoes least destructive food (this is a many years living plant, its fruit are toxic, but its edible tubers contain its seeds), but we agreed that we have not enough knowledge about it. But potatoes could be a reasonable addition to fruitarian diet in a context of the common good.

Compare this to red meat (edible carcass weight) - 48 lbs per acre (TX), some others - more than 100.

I read that orchards of centenarian trees can yield more than 450,000 pounds of fruit per acre a year, but I have not found the primal source of this data.

Calories per acre efficiency of fruit trees

An example from a real farmer Walter:

Wheat can produce 3-4 million calories per acre and potatoes can produce 6-8 million calories per acre. ... I got 288 pounds of fruit off the first tree and my orchard is on a grid of 200 trees per acre. That means this tree produced the equivalent of 57,600 pounds per acre. At 236 calories per pound for raw apples, this equals 13,593,600 calories per acre for an apple tree producing less than 300 pounds per tree. This is 3.4 times the calorie production for wheat and 1.7 times the value of potatoes (using 4 million calories per acre for wheat and 8 million for potatoes - the upper end of the spread). ... Now let's consider commercial apple production. ... At half a bin, or 500 pounds per tree and with 200 trees per acre, the calorie value of commercial apple production jumps to 100,000 pounds per acre, or 23.6 million calories per acre. This is nearly 3 times the calorie yield of the most optimistic calorie value for potatoes and almost 6 times the most optimistic calorie value for wheat! ... Planting trees is an investment in the future and it takes 4-5 years for production to come on, but once the apples start producing, the amount of high-quality food produced is astonishing. Apples do take some management, but the labor costs are quite low compared to vegetables. If there is a perfect food, from both a farming and a consumer perspective, it is an apple.

"Roots" - Conduct

Diet

Formula: Food = Fruit ;)

Fruit

See What Is Fruit, Why Fruit Only.

Better not mixed, one type at a time - The best results could be reached by integrating mono-meals in the diet, and mixing fruits minimally in all cases, using none ore minimal amount of plant additives (spices). See Why not mixed.

  1. ripe and undamaged.
  2. fresh: minimal storing time (great if right from the tree, or from the own orchard, locally grown, minimal refrigeration), unprocessed (preferably raw - see Why Raw, not heated, not freezed, not smocked, not fermented, etc.).
  3. clean: naturally grown (with minimum chemicals - see Pesticides, certified organic - see also Why Organic, stored without additives), uncontaminated (no fungus, no harmful bacteria) - see also Plant Food Contamination and Toxins in Raw Food, cleaned from dirt.
  4. juicy: sweet (Examples: mangoes, melons), non-sweet (Examples: tomatoes, squash).
  5. optional: nuts (Examples: walnuts, pecans), seeds (Examples: pine nuts, sunflower seeds, millet), legumes (Examples: green peas, soaked lentils).
  6. else: almost nothing actually :)

Water

  1. sweet and soft: no salts, minimum additives.
  2. clean: naturally clean (from natural reservoirs, spring water), distilled, filtered (filters changed or cleaned regularly, multi-stage filtering).

See also Drinking Water.

All

  1. moderate temperature: not too cold, not too warm.
  2. enough: as much as needed, not too much at once

Philosophy

Formula: Live and let live.

Ethics

  1. Ahimsa अहिंसा: Cause no injury to any living being: no harm, no pain, no killing - in mind, by saying or doing.
  2. Caring for: people and animals (kindness, avoiding animal products, protection of their environment, plants and all life (eating their fruit only, not essential organs, preserving bio-diversity, compact constructions out of non-living matter like stones, avoiding usage of new wood in things like furniture, using non-wooden or recycled paper).

Cooperation

  1. Prosperity for all: win-win solutions, global consideration, open and truthful information sharing, fair pay for common resources like air, water, earth; legal requirements to keep them intact),
  2. Efficiency: in using natural resources, in reusing and recycling, in production and new product development, in organization, in communication and management, optimized distribution.

Ecology

See Also: protection of their environment (how), naturally grown (helps)

  1. minimising negative impact on the environment.
  2. preservation: of wild nature, of clean air, of waters.
  3. restoration
  4. studying nature
  5. bionics - practical use of invention by other living beings
  6. helping to sustain balance and to survive for members in need

Aims, Description and Rules

Aims

  1. To create a truthful and versatile informational source about fruitarianism.
  2. To inspire people to eat enough of fresh fruit with solid reasons.
  3. To connect like-minded people and to combine their experiences.

Description

The subject of this site is fruitarianism - a quest for optimal food, presumably fruit, and for the best ethical and maintainable way to live on this planet. It is independent from any ideology or religion.

The main thing that unite fruitarians of all kinds is that they consider various fresh ripe edible fruits to be such a good food, that they make them to a main element of their diet, usually 75% and up. Normally they complement fruits by seeds, but there are many ways to be a fruitarian - for health, environmental and ethical reasons.

We want to gather all fruitarians in one place. If you are a fruitarian, please, represent yourself here (it would take only few minutes). We also invite non-fruitarian folks (especially scientists, doctors, biologist and philosophers) who have something significant to say, or to support the site.

Fruitarians.net is an open independent platform: most information is freely reachable for all internet users without any need for registration. There is no hidden agenda behind the project, and it is privately funded by a fruitarian.

We make no difference between people of various backgrounds, genders, ethnicity, income, body shapes and looks, age, philosophical positions, religious believes, sexual behaviors, origin, nationality, etc. Important are your friendliness and your bright mind. Here everybody can make a statement about fruitarianism, backed up with personal experience, observations and scientific proof. This place is for people who are interested in fruitarianism and who find the subject important enough to express their original or thoughtfully adapted ideas and concepts in a courteous manner, and in a nicely organized environment.

  • Visitors can read, rate and assign points to comments, and discuss the content in some cases.

  • Members additionally can build a specialized profile with a dedicated URL (fruitarians.net/nick), add links and images, and communicate with each other privately, greet and fave other members, welcome new people, add friends, and gather favorite images.
