All about fruitarianism with a long-term fruitarian, Lena

Various activities and engagements - fruitarian approach.

  • Simone Weil

Imaginary good is boring; real good is always new, marvelous, intoxicating.

  • Aristotle

I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies, for the hardest victory is over self.

  • Vlog 16: My Fruitarian Meals, Sorry for my Errors

Hibiscus tee, apologies for the errors in my English, my two white baking plates, fruits (persimmons, apples), seeds (almonds, peanut butter), how and when I eat, recycling in California (SoCal).

  • Seeds in Fruitarian Diet?

Some fruitarians maintain that fruitarian diet should include only fruit flesh, which usually surrounds seeds of the common fruits. They insist on nver including seeds, because eating them would mean the same as destroying plants (or their "babies").

    I must disagree

    1. First, seeds are not developed organisms. The main premise of fruitarianism is that complex organisms as plants deserve our ethical consideration, and most seeds are just dormant plant matter: it would be highly impractical and even immoral to treat them as individuals.
    2. Second, they are produced by plants in excess, not all require to go through our digestive system, and only few can develop into organisms due to shortage of resources on this planet.
    3. Third, fruitarianism is about fruits is botanical sense, not culinary or common.
  • Margaret Lozano - ModVegan

    Margaret Lozano

This is the fruitarian interview with gorgeous Margaret, a vegan youtuber, the host of ModVegan. Below is the follow-up video (1:20:00) of my live conversation with Margaret:

    Part 1: Introduction

    1. Please, introduce yourself.

My name is Margaret Lozano. I’m the host of the ModVegan YouTube channel and author of the accompanying blog I’m a historian by training, but my real passion is learning, and YouTube has given me a chance to share my ideas with the world! My channel is a bit different from other vegan channels, because I have a very modern, skeptical approach to many issues related to veganism. I try to give people interesting things to think about and then provide a place to explore those ideas without judgement (well, maybe with a little judgement, I’m only human).

  • Rhys - Sora Sennin

This is the fruitarian interview with a very interesting young person, Rhys - Sora Sennin.

    Part 1: Introduction

    1. Please, introduce yourself.

    I'm Rhys Michael. I'm 20 years old, and i'm a CNA.

    2. How would you describe this stage of your life?

    Hectic and disorganized.

    3. Tell us something about your background.

I grew up with a lower middle class family in a dump neighborhood. My parents were democrat and religious but they never imposed that on me.

    4. What inspires you in your future?

Honestly, this very questionnaire. The idea that maybe i'll get to meet people who are willing to view vegetation as an organism deserving of its own future.

  • Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz

We live in the best of all possible worlds.

  • Anyone Can Be Real Vegan

My comment on ModVegan's video "Vegan Sell-Outs":

Everyone can be vegan - just eat vegan, and maybe go further. Veganism is for everyone, in every industry, with any occupation, and situation, and any levels of awareness or ethics. Calling anyone "not real vegan" - especially knowing that being vegan is not a rewarding social position - is unnecessary demanding and even intimidating fashion among vegans, detrimental to the spread of veganism, imho. I observed it for years, and never witnessed anything good or productive resulting from it.

Sorry to disagree on this one, Margaret.

  • Method Critique 2010

This is my original article 30Bad Method Critique, first published on on June 6th 2010, and for which I was blocked from the community by Freelee (see in the end, for misrepresenting banana industry) The old URL was:

Now, 6 years later, I decided to publish it again, for the history, and because some of the problems were not resolved, and I just found out recently, how bad it became (RawTill4 - sugar drinks as healthy nutrition, people who criticize them being accused in crimes, violence threats, etc.

I edited the text to adopt it to the new site formatting, and to make it more readable. I also needed to remove a few of my sentences, because the discussions, which provided the context for them on, were deleted.

  • John Ruskin

I will not kill or hurt any living creature needlessly, nor destroy any beautiful thing, but will strive to save and comfort all gentle life, and guard and perfect all natural beauty upon the earth.

Isaac Asimov

Never let your sense of morals prevent you from doing what is right.

Carotenoids are a class of more than 750 pigments synthesized by plants, algae, and photosynthetic bacteria. These richly colored molecules are the sources of the yellow, orange, and red colors of many plants. Fruit and vegetables provide most of the 40 to 50 carotenoid phytonutrients found in the human diet.

The most common carotenoids in North American diets are α-carotene, β-carotene, β-cryptoxanthin, lutein, zeaxanthin, and lycopene.

Provitamin A carotenoids - α-carotene, β-carotene, and β-cryptoxanthin - can be converted by the body to retinol (vitamin A), but not lutein, zeaxanthin, and lycopene.

Dietary lutein and zeaxanthin help maintain optimal visual function - they absorb damaging blue light that enters the eye.

The results of observational studies suggest that diets high in carotenoid-rich fruit and vegetables are associated with reduced risks of cardiovascular disease and some cancers. But high-dose β-carotene supplements did not
