Mineral Deficiency?

I remember an email i received from Roger Haeske on April 2010:

What I have for you today is a quick, easy and non-invasive way for
you to tell for yourself if you're becoming mineral deficient.

This means you don't need to take a blood test and stick a needle
in your arm to get a good idea of what is going on inside of your
body. And I'm going to share the exact method with you in this
email.

I have two quick stories to share with you on this.

1. Back early on when I went on a 100% Raw Food Diet I was spending
a lot of time with one of my Raw Food Friends. I was able to look
at a certain part of his body and immediately determine that he was
severely mineral deficient.

He had been 100% raw much longer than me but he didn't seem to
understand this simple, self-diagnostic method. And he dismissed it
any time I said anything about it to him.

He'd always used to say that fruits have "just the right amout of
minerals" and that we don't need to eat that much in the way of
greens. He admitted that fruits were lower in minerals than most
greens but he thought eating fruit would supply him all that he
needed.

Of course, he ate "some" greens but didn't put big importance into
doing so. In short he didn't eat nearly enough leafy greens like
romaine and spinach. A small or even a large salad every other day
just isn't nearly enough.

Fast forward about 7 years later and he started having health
issues with his low greens way of eating raw. So he finally figured
out that he needed to eat WAY more in the way of greens. Now he's
eating lots of salads and even drinking green juices all of the
time and feels his health is much improved.

He has become a GREENS fanatic. Wish he would have listened to me 7
years ago. He could have avoided a lot of his health problems if he
did.

2. I met this older gentleman who had spent a lot of time in a
tropical country. He told me while there he would spend long
periods of time just eating fruit and or fast on fruit juices only.

Of course, he couldn't stay raw like this indefinitely. And so he
was still eating cooked food. But he would eat fruit only for up to
a year or more at a time.

When I looked at this certain part of his body I could instantly
see how desperately he was starving for minerals.

Remember, if you're eating 100% raw you need to add lots of mineral
rich foods to your diet. Just eating fruit only is a slow road to
disaster for most people.

** How to Tell if You're Mineral Deficient **

You simply look at your non-manicured fingernails. If you have deep
vertical ridges in your nails that's a telltale sign of mineral
deficiency.

Realize that having small ridges or not so deep ridges can be
normal as we get older. But if they're really deep you have to
start changing what you're doing.

That's exactly what I saw in these two men. Very deep ridges in
their nails.

Of course, if you're getting manicures you won't be able to tell
the state of your health from observing your nails. There are
actually MANY health problems you can detect just by looking at
your nails.

Deep vertical ridges is just one thing to look for.

There's a book called "Prescription for Nutritional Healing," by
Phyllis A. Balch which goes into this in detail. And there are some
guides online as well.

I've seen these ridges in the nails of other raw foodists as well.
I've even seen before and after they started going 100% raw. And if
they aren't eating enough greens they eventually start to get these
ridges in their nails too.

I had them fairly deep as well in a few fingers when I had my
problems with a candida overgrowth. The candida likes to drain the
body of vital nutrients and at the same time they make your body
increasingly acidic.

I have not appreciated mineral deficiency symptoms in my more than two years of almost exclusive diet of organic fruit. Occasionally, a variety of lettuce or carrots. Less casual, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, celery. Never nuts or seeds. The only high-fat fruit that I can consume, and never in excess, is the avocado. I am convinced that the perfect diet for humans is organic fruit and leefy greens. And very importantly, low in fat. I think it is very important the quality and variety of the fruit we eat, to prevent mineral deficiencies. Anne Osborne has spent many years eating quality fruit, but not very concerned about the variety, she is able to spend long periods with mono-diet. She always claimed to have no mineral deficiency. I would like to know the opinion of Freelee, which consumes many calories a day of fruit, and I think most do not eat greens. Another issue is the practice of regular physical exercise. Those with this daily routine, as in my case, increase the caloric intake of fruits. Is it enough to meet the needs of minerals?. I think so. Soon I will providing some references about it ... Let the sun shine for you guys!
